  Key duties and responsibilities

 –       Provide scientific expertise in pathology according to client’s requirements

–       Provide scientific and technical expertise in immunohistochemistry techniques and associated molecular pathology applications

–       Supervise necropsies and perform histopathological examinations on a wide variety of laboratory species

–       Write pathology reports in support of the toxicology program

–       Perform pathology peer reviews

–       Understand and review clinical pathology data in an integrative manner

–       Interaction with scientists and clients to communicate the significance of the pathologic findings

–       Maintain a consistent high level of productivity in the department as per industry standards

–       Stay current in the science of toxicological pathology, and remain informed on all legislation and developments related to the job through self-education and external training

–        Promote interaction/collaboration between Pathology and other Disciplines

–        Ensure that work performed is in accordance with the requirements of the study plan and in full compliance with GLP (where these conditions apply)

–        Understand, respect and consistently apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

–        Perform any other reasonable tasks that may be required

–        Attend scientific meetings and continuing education seminars

–        Author scientific manuscripts and give presentations



–        A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent, and a formal Residency training in Veterinary Pathology are required.

–        Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) is required

–        Previous experience in toxicologic or investigative pathology from a Contract Research Organization or pharmaceutical industry is required

–        PhD is preferred but not required

–        Strong knowledge of related legislation, principles, practices and procedures

–        Oral and written English required.  French is a definite asset

–        Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

–        Strong problem solving and analytical skills

–        Demonstrated leadership ability

–        Ability to work independently and adapt to change

–        Working knowledge of related computer applications
